PIA Introduces Voluntary Separation Scheme for Employees
KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has introduced a Voluntary Separation Scheme for its employees on Monday (today).
According to the details, the ‘VSS scheme’ of voluntary separation from employment has been launched for fourteen (14) days. PIA employees can apply for VSS till December 22, 2020.
All the regular employees of the national airline with age of less than fifty-eight (58) years can apply for the scheme. However, regular employees with age of fifty-eight (58) years or above cannot apply for the voluntary separation scheme. Moreover, the contract employees not eligible to apply for the VSS.

The VSS payment amount will be determined according to employees’ November 30, 2020, salary. A lump sum payment will be made to the eligible employees of the scheme on January 31, 2021.

It is to be remembered that the PIA administration has demanded more than Rs12.8 billion from the federal government for the project. According to the plan, a voluntary separation scheme will be offered to 2,500 to 3,000 employees.
It is to be noted that the national airline is also taking important steps in view of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. On November 22, PIA had introduced a flexible system of attendance in offices.

Under the new system, PIA employees will be able to come to the office from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Attendance will be at 4:30 a.m. for those attending at 8 a.m., while employees attending at 9:30 a.m. will be able to go home at 6 p.m.
