The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) management has sent the draft of advertisement to the Secretary Aviation for the appointment of a new chief executive officer (CEO) of the national airline.
According to the details, a draft of advertisement has been sent to the Secretary Aviation by the PIA management for the appointment of a new chief of the national airline.
In a tweet, Safdar Anjum, General Secretary of PIA’s Officer Association, said that the government offices have expressed sorrow over the poor performance of the present administration during the three-year tenure of the current CEO.

“The government is unhappy over the poor performance including non-restoration of PIA and the loss of Rs 200 billion during the term of Air Marshal (R) Arshad Malik,” he added.

It is to be recalled that the federal government has issued a notification to extend the contract of Arshad Malik as the CEO of the national flag carrier. The federal government has approved the extension of Air Marshal Arshad Malik’s PIA contract as CEO till April 25, 2022.

On July 7, 2020, the federal cabinet approved the appointment of Arshad Malik as the CEO of PIA and decided that Arshad Malik will serve as the chief executive even after his retirement on July 12, 2020.
It is pertinent to mention here that Air Marshal Arshad Malik retired from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on July 12, 2020 and was approved by the Federal Cabinet on October 11, 2018 to be the Chairman, but later on April 2, 2019 he was appointed as the CEO.
