PIA to start flight operations to United Kingdom

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to/from Tashkent, Uzbekistan will use Chinese airspace due to the closure of Afghanistan airspace for civilian flights.

According to the details, flight path of August 10, 2021, PIA Airbus A320 registration AP-BLB Lahore to Tashkent flight PK-6155 that used Afghan airspace can be seen below. As per the reports obtained by Flightradar24, the flight was completed in two hours.

Taliban has successfully gaining control of Kabul after which thousands of people leave Afghanistan and return home. Many countries have arranged special flights to recruit their citizens from Afghanistan. In Kabul, air traffic has been halted due to heavy commotion at Kabul airport.

Meanwhile major airlines are rerouting flights to avoid Afghanistan’s airspace after the Taliban took control of the presidential palace in Kabul as US-led forces departed and Western nations scrambled to evacuate their citizens.

Airlines and governments have paid close attention to the dangers of flying in conflict zones after two deadly ground-to-air incidents in recent years. A Malaysia Airlines plane was shot down over eastern Ukraine in 2014, killing all 298 people on board, and a Ukraine International Airlines plane was shot down by the Iranian military in 2020, killing all 176 passengers and crew.

Commercial flights set to land in Afghanistan have also been affected by the chaos on the ground. Emirates has suspended flights to Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, until further notice, the airline said on its website.
