PM Imran arrives in Karachi, to review Karachi development plan

Aug 10, 2021: PM Imran Khan arrived in the port city of Karachi for a day-long visit on Tuesday, during which he will attend the inauguration ceremony of the Ship-Lift and Transfer System (SL&TS) at Karachi Shipyard.
The visit will last only a few hours according to sources.
According to the official Twitter handle of the PM office, “The prime minister will be the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony.”

The Prime Minister is expected to chair a meeting on Karachi Transformation Plan at the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and also visit the KPT headquarters where he will be briefed on the performance of the trust.
According to sources, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, federal ministers and other officials will attend the meeting.
However, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was not invited to the Karachi Transformation Plan meeting. The Chief Minister was not present at the Prime Minister’s reception in Karachi.
Later, PM Imran is expected to inaugurate the tree planting campaign at Sonmiani beach in Lasbela.
Earlier, during a meeting with industrialists and traders at the Sindh Governor’s House last year, Prime Minister Imran announced a package of Rs 1.1 trillion to improve water, sewerage, solid waste management, transport and road network infrastructure.
Multiple projects in each domain were expected to be completed in a maximum of three years with the cooperation of the provincial government.
Earlier this year, he said that just as the federal government had ensured timely disbursement of funds under the National Finance Commission, it was also imperative that the Sindh government distribute provincial funds fairly.
The Prime Minister in a meeting with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MPs said that the government was taking all possible steps to address the issue facing the people of Karachi.
