The 54th martyrdom anniversary of Sowar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, is being observed today.
Sowar Hussain was born on 18th January, 1949 at Jatli village in Gujar Khan.
During 1971 war, he took an active part in every battle and spotted the enemy tanks close to a minefield near the village Harar Khurd.
During the battle, he received a burst of machine gun fire in the chest and embraced martyrdom on this day in 1971.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has paid glowing tribute to Sowar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, on his 54th martyrdom anniversary.
In a statement, he said Sowar Hussain Shaheed was a valiant son of the soil who had demonstrated extraordinary valour during the 1971 war to safeguard the motherland.
The Prime Minister said the gallantry and unparalleled bravery of Sowar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed in the Zafarwal-Shakargarh Sector in 1971 filled the entire nation with everlasting pride.
Shehbaz Sharif said it is because of such heroic sons that defence of Pakistan remains invincible.
He said by thwarting the attack of the cowardly enemy with unparalleled prowess and strategy, Sowar Muhammad Shaheed turned the tide of the battlefield and created history.
The Prime Minister noted that Sowar Hussain Shaheed and all other brave sons, who embraced martyrdom for the motherland, are an eternal pride of the nation.
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu have commemorated with utmost respect and deep national pride, the 54th martyrdom anniversary of Sowar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider on behalf of the Armed Forces of Pakistan.
According to ISPR, on this solemn day, the Armed Forces remember the exceptional valour displayed by Sowar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed during the 1971 war in the Zafarwal-Shakargarh Sector.
He courageously identified advancing enemy armour and guided the crew of recoilless rifles with remarkable precision. His fearless actions resulted in the destruction of numerous enemy tanks and significantly altered the course of the battlefield.
In the midst of this heroic effort, he embraced shahadat after being struck by enemy fire, leaving behind a legacy of unmatched devotion, duty, and patriotism.
Sowar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed’s sacrifice continues to stand as a symbol of steadfast resolve and an enduring reminder of the commitment of Pakistan’s Armed Forces to defend the nation’s sovereignty at all costs.
His courage inspires generations of soldiers who remain ready to uphold the security and dignity of the motherland.
