Announcing the protest against the election results, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal said that the rights of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) had been robbed.
Rejecting the election results, he said that returning officers used to visit government people in the morning, adding that the Election Commission (EC) had worked out an agenda with the political parties.
Ahsan Iqbal said that if the independent candidate wins against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidates, the victory of the independent candidates means that the people rejected the PTI. Three days before the elections, it was being said that the PML-N will get 3 seats.
He further said that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan welcomed PML-N in this election. PML-N held the largest rallies in Gilgit-Baltistan but the votes were rigged in the elections. Secretary General PML-N said that now there will be protests from Karachi to Peshawar and Gilgit, the country cannot develop with rigged elections.
He hoped that all parties in the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) would play a role in holding transparent elections.
Former Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan and PML-N leader Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman on the occasion said that indiscriminate firing took place yesterday but no action was taken. Peace in Gilgit-Baltistan is being disturbed to create a new Pakistan.
Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman said that they want to bring this second Bazdar to Gilgit-Baltistan. One day before the election, 4 federal ministers were distributing money among the people.
