PMLN Leader Demands Raise in Salaries by Fifty Percent

Islamabad (19th June, 2019): Opposition Leader, Shehbaz Sharif, demands 50 percent raise in salaries of government employees. 

According to Baaghi TV’s reports, PMLN leader Shehbaz Sharif has asked for a 50% increase in government salaries in the National Assembly.

Moreover, while addressing the National Assembly (NA) session, Shehbaz Sharif demanded that the presiding government raise salaries of grade 1-16 government employees by approximately 50%. He continued by touching upon the minimum salary for labourers, demanding it to be fixed at at least Rs. 20,000.

He further maintained that people who are earning Rs. 100,000 should be exempted from paying taxes.

According to Baaghi TV sources, the Federal government has so far approved a 10% raise in salaries for BS-1 to BS-16 government employees in the budget for fiscal year, 2019-2020. As well as a 5% raise in salaries of BS-17 to BS-20 employees. However, the Federal government has decided to not give raise to  government employees between grade 20-21.

Consequently, raise in pensions for retired government officers has also been approved with an increase of 10%.
