Quetta, 27th April: It has been revealed that Dr. Zafar Mirza, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health had requested leniency towards the people of the Taftan border.

According to Baaghi TV, Dr. Zafar Mirza requested the Balochistan government to relax the restrictions along the Pak-Iran border in February which led to hundreds of cases of the virus entering Pakistan, it has emerged in an official letter that raises serious concerns about mistakes made by the federal government in the fight to contain coronavirus.

This has been revealed in a letter from the Additional Chief Secretary Balochistan, in which it has been said that Dr. Zafar Mirza has asked them to be lenient with the people coming from Iran. It is revealed in the letter that on Feb. 27, Mirza had ordered ease in quarantine restrictions at the border “for no sound reason.”

Coronavirus: Pilgrims from Taftan border, virus carriers?

It is to be noted that at present there are revelations that prove that if Dr. Zafar Mirza had not given this concession, perhaps the situation in the quarantine centers regarding Corona would not have been like this and there would have been less infected cases. over 60,000 people entered Balochistan from Iran through the Taftan border once the restrictions were eased.

In March, the federal government reported that 78 percent of all coronavirus cases in the country had travel histories to Iran, one of the countries worst affected worldwide by the virus.

The government has since then been criticized for mishandling the Taftan border quarantine.
