Police Arrest 26 More Culprits in Minar-e-Pakistan Harassment Case

Lahore, 22nd August: Police arrested 26 more culprits who were involved in the Minar-e-Pakistan incident where 300-400 men harassed a female on Independence Day.

According to details, Punjab Police has arrested 26 persons on Sunday for their alleged involvement in the sexual assault case that happened near Minar-e-Pakistan in Greater Iqbal Park on August 14.

According to reports from Geo News, police carried out raids in Faisalabad, Kasur and Sheikhupura during which 26 persons were arrested, bringing the total number of arrested persons to 92.

Minar-e-Pakistan Victim to Identify 40 Men Involved in Harassment

Accoridng to reports, a day earlier, Lahore police had arrested 66 people who were involved in molesting the 28-year-old woman on Independence Day.

Meanwhile, sources form police force informed that 407 people were involved in the Minar-e-Pakistan harassment incident. Police released the rest of the men who were questioned and found not guilty, while, 92 have been taken into custody.

As per reports, out of these 92 men, 40 accused have already been sent to jail for identity parade in front of the victim named Ayesha Akram. While 30 others will be sent to jail today after the victim identifies them.

It is to be noted that on August 17, a video went viral on social media showing hundreds of men harassing a female Tik Tok star who went to celebrate Independence Day at Greater Iqbal Park.

Therefore, the police registered a case against 400 men for molesting the woman. The culprits are being identified through the video footage.

Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Usman Buzdar have taken notice of the incident and have assured the public that culprits will be brought to justice soon.
