Several female members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were rearrested by Lahore police just hours after being released from Kot Lakhpat Jail following an order from the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). Among those arrested again were Sanam Javed, Afshan Tariq, Ashmiya Shuja, and Shah Bano.
On September 23, the ATC ordered the release of Sanam Javed and other PTI activists in connection with the Jinnah House attack case that occurred on May 9. The court had approved their bail pleas against surety bonds of Rs 0.1 million each.
The jail authorities had freed these political workers in accordance with the court order, but they were arrested once more as they were leaving the jail premises.
