Politicians, Celebrities Horrified at Minar-e-Pakistan Harassment Case

Lahore, 18th August: The sexual harassment case of a girl that took place near Minar-e-Pakistan on Independence Day has angered the politicians, activists and celebrities in the country.
Accoridng to reports, a horrific incident emerged Tuesday night when videos of a girl went viral, who was being harassed by 300-400 men of all ages at Greater Iqbal Park near Minar-e-Pakistan.

As per details, the incident took place on the occasion of Independence Day, August 14, when a female Tik Tok star went to the park along with four of her friends to celebrate the occasion.
According to details from Dawn News, hordes of men climbed the fence after seeing the Tik Tok star and surrounded her. They attacked her to such an extent that her clothes got torn off and she was being constantly thrown in the air. The boys and men stole cash, jewelry and mobile from the girl too.

Soon after the videos went viral on social media yesterday, the victim filed an FIR against 400 unidentified assailants with the Lahore police. Police have registered a case against them and assured the public to take legal action against them at their earliest.

Meanwhile, Azhar Mashwani, Punjab chief minister’s focal person for digital media tweeted on Wednesday that non-bailable clauses have now been added to the FIR and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident.

Mashwani further informed that despite “Ashura” duties, Police are analyzing the video clips and available CCTV footage to identify the culprits & arrest them.

PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari announced on Twitter that Prime Minister Imran Khan personally spoke to the Punjab IG to arrest the men involved in the incident.

Also taking notice of another horrible incident of vandalism of Ranjit Singh’s statue at Lahore Fort yesterday, he said that these are gross violations of laws & social norms, govt won’t spare a single person involved.
Several politicians and notable personalities in Pakistan have expressed severe distress over the incident and have urged the government to take immediate steps against the harassers in the country to set an example. They also highlighted that there is a serious need to protect the women of the country without any more delays.
