Wednesday, June 10th: A meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) is underway under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan in which the federal development budget of Rs. 600 billion and the proposed development budget of 674 billion provinces is likely to be approved.

The meeting of the National Economic Council in Islamabad was attended by Federal Minister for Development and Planning Asad Umar and four Chief Ministers including Advisors to the Prime Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Dr Ishrat Hussain and Abdul Razzaq Dawood.

According to sources, a development budget of Rs 1.57 billion was proposed for the Defense Production Division, while a development budget of Rs 52 billion was proposed for Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan and Rs 24 billion for the Railways.

Sources said that a development budget of Rs 1.32 billion has been proposed for the Aviation Division while Rs 47.52 billion has been proposed for development projects under the Cabinet Division.

According to sources, Rs 5 billion has been proposed for the Ministry of Climate Change.
