Lahore, 25th May: People staged a protest outside Lahore’s Expo Center over the unavailability of the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to reports, several people started a protest outside the vaccination center at Lahore’s Expo Centre on Tuesday against the unavailability of the AstraZeneca COVID vaccine.

Sources said that the people who intended to travel to Saudi Arabia were protesting at the Expo Centre today and complained that the AstraZeneca vaccine was not available for them.

The travelers demanded to be injected with the vaccine recommended by the Saudi government that includes Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson.

They complained that AstraZeneca is not being inoculated to the people between the ages of 30 and 40 years, which makes them ineligible to travel to the Kingdom.

Thus, the Punjab government has issued orders to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) to resolve the issue.

It is to be noted that recently Saudi Arabia has put a condition for the travelers to get vaccinated by the above-mentioned COVID vaccines only.

The Saudi Kingdom has not included in its list of recommended vaccines the ones that have been manufactured in China.

It is pertinent to mention here that most of the Pakistanis are being administered the vaccines manufactured by China, due to which many of them will be facing issues while traveling to Saudi Arabia.

According to reports, people who do not wish to get vaccinated will have to undergo a mandatory period of 14-day quarantine upon arrival at the Kingdom.

Furthermore, the passengers will bear the cost of the quarantine and hotel charges themselves.
