Prime Minister Imran Khan withdrew portfolio of Federal Minister for Revenue from Hammad Azhar, amid strong protest by Hafeez Sheikh, after 24 hours, after his appointment as Federal Minister for Revenue on Wednesday.
According to reports of Baaghitv, Prime Minister Imran Khan has withdrawn portfolio of Federal Minister from Hammad Azhar, who was elevated to the post of Federal Minister for Revenue on Monday for his exceptional performance in the presentation of budget and passage of budget in National Assembly against a charged opposition. Finance Adviser Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh lodged a strong protest against withdrawal of Revenue Division Portfolio from him on which PM Imran Khan conceded as PM Imran could not afford change of finance minister at this time.
He has been assigned a less important portfolio of Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Division (EAD), which had remained a part of finance ministry in the past.
Earlier, Hammad Azhar, son of former governor Punjab Mian Muhammad Azhar, was serving in the cabinet of PM Imran Khan as Minister of State for Revenue.
