The controversy started when the actress Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed shot a video sequence of their song in the Mosque.

Saba Qamar’s video booked under blasphemy law?

Social media users and religious scholars rose their voices against the act, some even calling it blasphemous.

A notification dated August 13, 2020, states that if any scene is filmed in a mosque or a shrine, the relevant manager and zonal administrator would be responsible. The permission to film a documentary in these spaces will be subject to consultation with the department of religious affairs, it adds.

Bilal Saeed and Saba Qamar granted bail

The Auqaf department’s notification specifies that no cinematography featuring a woman in a shrine or mosque will be permitted.

How could Saba Qamar perform dance in a Holy mosque?

An FIR was filed against both the artists on hurting the religious sentiments and dishonoring the sanctity of the mosque.

However, both Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed apologized to the public and removed the scene from their video.
