LAHORE: Students protested in many cities including Lahore for the second day on the alleged rape of a female student in Punjab College, Gulberg.

The Punjab government has set up a committee to investigate the incident, however, the police say that no girl was raped. No girl has come forward yet. No such incident has happened yet the students are refusing to accept this and have continued their protest for a second day across many cities in Punjab, including Lahore.

Students protested in front of the Punjab Assembly on Mall Road in Lahore. A heavy police force was present on this occasion. University students also came to the streets against the private college. Students of Government College University (GCU) protested on Mall Road over the harassment issue. Students took out a rally from GCU toward Punjab Assembly. The participants of the rally at GPO Chowk shouted slogans and demanded the closure of the private college and requested the government to take immediate action.

Students have also been protesting on Zahoor Elahi Road Gulberg. They say that the authorities are testing our patience, they think that we will go back tired but we will not stop until they register the protest, we will not go back. We have our own thoughts and opinions, we have come to protest against oppression and abuse. We should be given a way so that we can go to the campus where the rape incident happened.

College students have joined the protest in other cities of Punjab as well. The students reportedly vandalized the college building on Bosan Road of Multan, after which the police arrested dozens of students and charged them with batons. In Gujrat, students have protested on the main GT road. In Raiwand too, students came out on the streets and recorded their protest. Students also protested in Muzaffargarh. A motorcycle rally was taken out by students in Jahanian, while in Zafarwal, students set fire to tires and blocked traffic, demanded justice and a transparent investigation of the matter.

It should be noted that, yesterday, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz formed a 6-member investigation committee headed by the Chief Secretary to investigate the matter, while according to the police investigation, there is no truth in the incident and the security guard is denying the incident, while there is evidence of abuse. Police have said that if anyone has any evidence, it should be given to the police.
