Punjab Health Secretary issues special SOPs after surge in COVID-19 cases

Lahore, 1st August: Amid the increasing number of coronavirus cases increase in Punjab, Secretary Primary and Secondary Health has issued special Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)s.

According to details, Punjab Health Secretary Sara Aslam has issued special SOPs for different sectors in view of the increase in coronavirus cases in the province.

Secretary Sarah Aslam said that all citizens should take full precautions during the fourth wave of coronavirus pandemic.

She said that vaccination against the virus is the only and effective treatment. Hence, immediate vaccination is mandatory for all people over the age of 18.

According to the latest data, 709 new cases were reported across the province in the last 24 hours. Therefore, the total number of COVID-19 cases across Punjab has risen to 356,920.

So far, 332,830 patients across the province have been fully recovered, informed Secretary Sarah Aslam. Meanwhile, the number of active cases across Punjab has risen to 13,033.

Coronavirus cases spike in Pakistan despite vaccine rollout

As per data, a total of 18 deaths have been reported across the province on Saturday, including 7 deaths in Lahore, the provincial capital.

The total number of deaths across the province reached have 11,057 and 18,815 tests were performed in the last 24 hours, Secretary Sarah Aslam added.

Meanwhile, a total of 6,174,842 tests have been conducted across the province so far. In the last 24 hours, 337 cases were reported in Lahore, 158 in Rawalpindi and 47 in Faisalabad.

August 31 Deadline for those Unvaccinated Against Coronavirus

While, 21 cases were reported from Rahim Yar Khan, 19 from Multan, 15 from Sheikhupura and 12 from Gujranwala.

According to reports, yesterday, the overall positive rate of coronavirus was recorded at 3.8 in all the cities across the province. A positive rate of 5.1 was recorded in the provincial capital Lahore.

Secretary Sarah Aslam has warned the citizens to protect themselves by taking special precautions against the coronavirus.

She added that the citizens should avoid unnecessary gatherings and crowds, maintain social distance and wear a mask. All citizens over the age of 18 must be vaccinated against coronavirus immediately.
