Punjab Law Minister chairs meeting of district peace committees on Muharram

Meeting chaired by Punjab Law Minister, Raja Basharat, consultation with administration and members of district peace committees on Muharram.

A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order was held at the Civil Secretariat under the chairmanship of Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat.

The meeting was attended by Provincial Ministers Ansar Majeed Khan, Chaudhry Akhlaq Ahmed, Sahibzada Saeed Al Hassan, IG Punjab, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Additional IG Special Branch and concerned officers. Gujranwala Division Commissioner, RPO, Deputy Commissioners, DPOs and Ulema also participated through video link.

Law Minister Raja Basharat said that the government is grateful to all the religious scholars for their exemplary role and cooperation in the promotion of religious harmony. He added that we can thwart possible, external and internal, conspiracies together. District administration should strictly implement the agreed security plan, meeting and procession times and routes.

Special care should be taken of Corona SOPs in Muharram gatherings and processions. Double riding will be prohibited during Muharram.

For effective implementation of the security plan, control rooms will be set up at the provincial and district levels. The scholars said that scholars of all schools of thought are in constant touch with each other and there is perfect religious harmony.

There should be strict monitoring of unauthorized and provocative religious content on social media, immediate action should be taken against those who share material against the Companions and Ahlul Bayt.

Cyber ​​crime is the biggest temptation of this era. Strict implementation of laws should be done to prevent it. Consultation with government scholars is commendable. We will fully cooperate in peace building as per tradition. There will be a zero tolerance policy on hate speech.

Raja Basharat said that progress would be made on the protection of the foundation of Islam Bill with the consensus of all schools of thought.
