Punjab MPA Asad Khokhar’s brother killed during firing at son’s wedding

Lahore, 6th August: Punjab Minister Malik Asad Ali Khokhar’s brother, Mubashir Khokhar, was killed after unknown attackers opened fire during the MPA’s son’s wedding in Lahore.

According to details from Dawn News, unknown assailants opened fire on the MPA’s Asad Ali Khokhar’s son’s wedding in Lahore on Friday, as a result of which MPA’s brother Mubashir Khokhar lost his life.

Meanwhile, Dr. Shahbaz Gill, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs disclosed that the attackers had opened fire after coming close to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar’s car, who also attended the wedding ceremony.

Taking to his Twitter account, Shahbaz Gill added that the attacker has been arrested by the chief minister’s security team.

Spokesperson Musarrat Cheema of the Punjab government also revealed that the chief minister Usman Buzdar was present in the ceremony when the firing occurred.

She added that a large number of people were present at the ceremony. However, Asad Khokhar remained safe and the chief minister and other personalities are safe too.

Cheema expressed sorrow on her Twitter account over the death of MPA’s brother during the incident.

Meanwhile, a police spokesman confirmed that the attacker has been arrested. As per reports from the Police, the assailant has been identified as Nazim, who is a resident of Manawala in Faisalabad.

The police source informed that the lawmaker’s brother Mubashir Khokar was taken to the hospital in a critically injured condition but he could not survive the gunshot wounds.

Police said that a case would be registered after a complaint was filed about the shooting and evidence is being collected from the site of the incident.

In the meantime, CM Usman Buzdar has also taken the notice of the incident and directed the inspector general of police to submit a report in this regard.

A statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office said, “Action should be taken against the arrested suspect in accordance with the law.”
