Qatar Airways Pilot Dies on Delhi To Doha Flight
A Qatar Airways flight from Delhi to Doha was forced to divert to Dubai after a 51-year-old senior pilot died during the short journey.
The overnight flight left Delhi at 3:41 a.m., bound for a 3:30-hour flight to Doha, Qatar.
The incident occured on Thursday.
The Airbus A350 was about 30 minutes from landing in Doha when it turned left and diverted to Dubai due to a medical emergency involving an Indian Qatar Airways pilot traveling as a passenger who fell ill and could not be revived. According to The Times Of India, the pilot, described as being “very fit,” had previously flown for India’s Spicejet before becoming a pilot on the Qatar Airways Boeing 777 fleet.
The flight remained on the ground for nearly an hour before continuing its journey to its final destination.
The death of this pilot follows Monday night’s death of a 56-year-old LATAM captain who collapsed and died during a flight from Maimi to Santiago, Chile.
