Queen Elizabeth II tests positive for COVID, will continue with light crucial duties

Feb 20, 2022: Queen Elizabeth II, who tested positive for COVID just days after both Charles and Camilla contracted the virus, is experiencing mild cold-like symptoms and is expected to continue with mildly important duties.

The 95-year-old Queen, who has been in the news for her deteriorating health, is facing “mild cold-like symptoms” and is expected to resume light duty at Windsor next week. She will continue to seek medical help and follow appropriate guidelines. This comes just days after both Charles and Camilla tested positive for the virus and two weeks after the Platinum Jubilee.

It comes just two weeks after the Queen’s historic platinum jubilee, marking the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne on February 6. Buckingham Palace said in a statement today: ‘Buckingham Palace confirm that The Queen has today tested positive for Covid. ‘Her Majesty is experiencing mild cold-like symptoms but expects to continue light duties at Windsor over the coming week.’

UK’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson has sent his well wishes to the longest reigning monarch, saying: ‘I’m sure I speak for everyone in wishing Her Majesty The Queen a swift recovery from Covid and a rapid return to vibrant good health.’
