Qureshi Hopes Biden Admin Will Play Positive Role to Resolve Kashmir Issue
ISLAMABAD, Mar 25 (APP): FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi has expressed the hope that the newly elected US President under his administration will play a positive role in the resolution of the Kashmir issue and for creating lasting peace in the region.
FM Qureshi was meeting with US Democratic Party leader Tahir Javed. He observed that people in key positions in the incumbent administration have crucial know-how of Pakistan and regional politics, according to a Foreign Ministry press release. Democrat Tahir Javed revealed the concern of the US government over the gross human rights violations ongoing in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK). Pakistan-US bilateral matters came under the purview of the meeting. FM Qureshi took the opportunity to congratulate Tahir Javed on being conferred Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan in recognition of his services for strengthening the Pak-US ties.
Qureshi said Pakistan values its relations with the US and considers itself an ally for regional peace in general, and the Afghan Peace Process in particular. He declared that the current government places stress on its regional responsibilities. He said the Pakistan Government is extending e-visa and other facilities to attract foreign investment, and US companies should take advantage of the feasible business environment being thus fostered. Also discussed is the overseas Pakistanis resident in the US.
