The Rawalpindi Division of Railways manages to achieve its target income for the Financial Year 2020-21.

Islamabad (from Muhammad Owais): The Rawalpindi Division of Pakistan Railways achieved its target for the financial year 2020-21. The shortages occurred due to lack of passengers thanks to coronavirus were covered up by freight services. The Rawalpindi Division earned PKR 3.29 billion 8.55 lakh in total revenue, which constitutes 100.74% of the target.

According to official documents, Pakistan Railways strictly directed all its divisions to meet their set target for the Financial Year 2020-21. The Rawalpindi Division achieved its target of Rupees 3.27 billion 43.61 lakh, earning 1765.798 million rupees, or 64.67% of the target, through passengers.

Rs. 69 million was earned in 4 periods in freight services, constituting 55% of the target and thus earning Rs. 338.735 million. They also generated another Rs 68.46 million in sundries, which is 42% of the target. The P&L sundries accounted for 344.98 9 million, which is 481% of the target, while e-ticketing earned Rs. 711.5 million. Thus, the Railways earned a total of Rs. 3.29 billion, 85.56 lakh, which is 100.74% of its target.

DS Rawalpindi Inamullah said that Rawalpindi Division has met its target despite the pandemic and limited operation, and stated that they were trying to further increase the freight income, being in talks with the Attock Oil Refinery.

He went on to say that other petroleum products apart from diesel should also be distributed, which would increase railway revenue and that their team was working hard to give passengers the best possible experience, reducing expenses as much as they could. In response to a question, he said that at the strong demand of the people, coaches for the Thal Express and a Malakwal coach have been sent to the headquarters to improve their conditions. As soon as the coaches were in better condition, they would be put to use again.
