Ramiz Raja promises to keep communication channels open as PCB chairman

Sept 14, 2021: The newly elected Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramiz Raja has promised to fulfill all his responsibilities effectively.

In his first tweet after taking charge as PCB chairman, Ramiz Raja wrote, “Thank you all for your wishes. It makes a lot of sense. To keep the communication channels open, I have a fan forum with Ramiz, a Q&A session with live question and answer session on Ramez Speaks every week. I promise to be open and transparent during my tenure. So let’s get cracking! “

PCB Patron-in-Chief and Prime Minister Imran Khan had decided to nominate former test cricketer Ramiz Raja as chairman of the board and the seal of approval was affixed at the Pakistan Cricket Board meeting on Monday.

Ramiz Raja has appointed Ehsan Mani as the new head of the governing body of cricket. Earlier, Ehsan Mani was also nominated by Imran Khan for the post in 2018 when Najam Sethi resigned.

It should be noted that under the constitution of PCB the Prime Minister of the country is the patron of the board. The country’s prime minister can nominate two of his representatives to the board of governors, after which he formally elects a new chairman of the 10-member board.

The Pakistan Cricket Board consists of ten representatives, including representatives from four institutions and four regions, while two representatives are from the government, nominated by the Prime Minister, in this case Ramiz Raja unopposed has been elected to the post.

It is noteworthy that in the 1990s, when Pakistan’s cricket was badly affected by the match-fixing scandal, Ramiz Raja was one of the few cricketers who did not face such allegations.

He was known for his clean and transparent character and is has openly denounced the practice of match-fixing.

In a separate report, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizamuddin Chaudhry has confirmed that Pakistan’s national team will visit Bangladesh shortly after the end of the ICCT20 World Cup.

Chaudhry further confirmed that Pakistan will play all three formats during their tour of Bangladesh. The tour is set to begin in November, according to the BCB. The BCB is in talks with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to finalize the schedule, Chaudhry said.

“Pakistan series will take place immediately after the World Cup. The Cricket Operations Department is in talks with the Pakistan Board to finalize the details. All formats will be included, there will be more ODIs and tests, ”Chaudhry told the media.

The CEO also revealed that Pakistan will arrive in Bangladesh on November 15 for the series. The national team will return the favor to the Bangladesh cricket team, which toured the country in January 2020 for the T20 series. In the series, Pakistan defeated their Bangladeshi rivals 2-0, with the third match being canceled due to rain.
