Religious sectarian propaganda hits Maulana Tariq Jamil

Lahore, 12th October: A religious sectarian propaganda on social media hits Pakistan’s most renowned scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil.

According to the report of Baaghi TV, Maulana Tariq Jameel has once again come under the target of religious intolerance.

As per reports, a social media user posted a tweet recently stating that the 70-year-old maulana has married a girl who could have been his granddaughter.

She shared on her Twitter account:

Apparently the almost 70 year old Tariq Jamil’s third wife is 21 years old only. He married her when she was not even 16.

He married a girl child who could’ve been his grand daughter. These are our so called religious scholars.

The netizen who called herself a feminist and a social & climate justice organizer wrote, “Apparently the almost 70-year-old Tariq Jamil’s third wife is 21 years old only. He married her when she was not even 16. He married a girl child who could’ve been his granddaughter. These are our so-called religious scholars.”

Some other social media user asked if that was authentic news, to which she wrote, “Yes. Someone I know met them a couple of months ago.”

However, one Twitterati also wrote, “I can’t see a problem here, is it that he chose 16 years over you or what?”

This seems to be an ongoing debate that most of us like to indulge in, but the thing to understand is that we need to stop mixing religion and social norms.

This is someone’s private life which we should not make a target of religious debate. Personal life should not be maligned. Whether the Maulana married a 21-year-old girl or for the third time, is none of our concern.

Without having full knowledge we can not judge any person. Needless to say that Maulana Tariq Jameel is a dignified citizen and we all should respect him and his personal life.
