Eminent historian RL Shukla died in a private hospital here following a brief illness on Saturday. He was 82.Shukla is survived by his wife, son Pankaj Rag, who is a senior secretary level officer in Madhya Pradesh.
Born on 18 January 1938 in Panapur village in Vaishali district, Bihar, Ram Lakhan Shukla did his MA and PhD in History from Patna University. He was counted among the top historians of modern India.
Shukla was appointed in the Department of History at Delhi University in 1974 and he was pursuing writing work after retirement.The last rites would be held at Nigambodh Ghat at 1630 hrs, the deceased’s brother said.
