The federal government on Friday announced in the budget speech of Ishaq Dar to allocate Rs1 billion allocated for the health insurance of working journalists.

The cards would provide health insurance security to working journalists.

The journalists’ community hailed the step announced during the budget session held in the National Assembly.

Now journalists will have health cards that would cover their health expenditures of themselves and people fall under the legal cover of the journalists’ family members depending upon the marital status of the cardholder.

The information minister said,” Delighted to announce that an allocation has been made in the budget for health insurance of working journalists for the first time ever. Rs 1 billion has been allocated in the budget for FY 2023-24. I am grateful to PM Shehbaz Sharif and FM Ishaq Dar for allocating funds for this very important measure. As Information Minister, it was one of my goals to be able to arrange this facility for working journalists, especially during these difficult times.”
