Russia announces first Coronavirus Vaccine

Moscow, 11th August: Russian President Vladimir Putin claims that Russia has developed its first coronavirus vaccine.

According to Baaghi TV, the race to make the coronavirus vaccine continues in many countries. But Russia claims to have developed its first vaccine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow’s Gamaleya Institute has registered the world’s first COVID-19 vaccine for use. According to Putin, his daughter is among those inoculated.

“This morning, for the first time in the world, a vaccine against the new coronavirus was registered” in Russia, Vladimir Putin said during a televised video conference call with government ministers, as per news agency AFP.

Two teams from Russia’s Gamaleya Institute have completed the first phase of the corona vaccine.

The corona vaccine was tested on 18 volunteers and all volunteers are safe from the COVID-19 who have also been discharged from the hospital.

WHO sees ‘green shoots of hope’ in fight against coronavirus

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, the volunteers were kept in a military hospital for 28 days and were tested for the vaccine without any side effects.

According to a foreign news agency, the volunteers discharged from the hospital will be re-admitted to the hospital 42 days after the vaccination, where they will undergo a final examination and diagnosis.

Russia’s rival, the United States, also hopes to develop a corona vaccine later this year.

The announcement came in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic that has infected more than 20 million people and killed nearly 750,000 worldwide, thus, crippling world economies.
