Lahore, 17th August: ‘Music video at a mosque gets actors Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed booked under blasphemy law’, quotes an Indian news website India Today.

According to the report of Baaghi TV, the music video by the actor Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed has been booked for blasphemy by the Lahore Police for allegedly “violating the sanctity” of a mosque where they shot a music video, as per a report in India Today.

Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed had shot a music video inside Lahore’s Wazir Khan Mosque. A short clip from the video showing a Nikah scene went viral on social media and drew strong reaction from religious and political circles in Pakistan.

According to the reports by Baaghi TV, Lahore Police have filed a complaint against the actress Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed who had shot a music video a few days back in the famous Wazir Khan Masjid. As per the FIR, the actors had violated the sanctity of the mosque.

The scene from the video ‘Qubool’ was shot inside the mosque, after which social media users and religious scholars across the country demanded that a blasphemy case be registered against Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed for disrespecting the sanctity of Wazir Khan Mosque.

The FIR was based on Section 295 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), pertaining to offenses relating to religion, injuring or defiling place of worship, with intent to insult the religion of any class.

As per the latest reports, Lahore’s session court has granted interim bail to Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed in the case. The court had issued pre-arrest bail in the case till August 25 against Rs.50,000 surety bonds collectively.

However, both the artists have apologized to social media, Saba Qamar claimed that they had captured just a circular movement in the Mosque for the poster of ‘Qubool’ depicting a happily married couple right after their Nikah. However, no music was played in the Wazir Khan Masjid.

Reportedly, the controversial scene has been chopped off from the video.
