Saudi Civil Aviation Authority publishes new directive for Umra pilgrims

Riyadh: The Saudi government announced the restoration of Umrah in Saudi Arabia which was implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19, in three phases.

According to the details, from October 4, local pilgrims and from November 1, foreign pilgrims will be allowed to visit Masjid al-Haram and the Masjid an-Nabawi.

According to the announcement of the Saudi government, performing Umrah and visiting the Prophet’s Mosque will be restored in 4 phases. In the first phase, only local pilgrims will be allowed to visit the Grand Mosque and only 6,000 pilgrims will be allowed to perform Umrah daily.

In the second phase, from October 18, 15,000 local pilgrims will be allowed to perform Umrah daily.

After that, in the third phase, foreigners will also be allowed to visit the Masjid al-Haram. From November 1, foreign pilgrims will also be able to travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. Foreigners will be allowed to visit Masjid an-Nabawi as well. However, on a daily basis, a limited number of people will be allowed to perform Umrah and visit Masjid an-Nabawi.

It should be noted here that the Saudi government had banned foreign pilgrims from coming to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
