Saudi Women To Join Army

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has allowed women to join the army as soldiers.
According to Saudi newspaper Asharq Al Awsat, The Saudi Defence Ministry has allowed women to join the army as soldiers. Women’s will be included in ranks from private soldier to the sergeant in the army’s branches of ground, navy, air, missile forces, air defence and medical services.

Last year, Saudi Arabia allowed women to join security forces including prisons investigations, drug combat and criminal investigations.

Reportedly, in the recent years, Saudi Arabia has taken several steps to empower females in the country. In the last year, Saudi Women were allowed to drive a car.
In the month of August this year, Saudi Women were allowed to travel without a male guardian’s permission.
