Searle Company Ltd introduces Remdesivir Injection for Coronavirus

Lahore, 2nd June: Ferozsons and Searle Pharma Pakistan have introduced the most expensive injection for the treatment of coronavirus.

According to Baaghi TV, Searle Pakistan launches its first Generic Remdesivir injection for COVID -19 in Pakistan.

On May 29, the Searle Company announced that it had entered into an exclusive agreement with Beximco Pharmaceuticals of Bangladesh to import the drug Remdesivir, the broad-spectrum antiviral medication developed by US-based Gilead Sciences. That made Searle the second Pakistani drug company to acquire the ability to provide Remdesivir to the Pakistani market.

Earlier, on May 15, Ferozsons Laboratories had announced that it was one among five generic drug manufacturers around the world that had been selected by Gilead to manufacture the drug for rapid distribution in 127 countries around the world. While Searle will not manufacture Remdesivir, it will import the drug from Beximco, the Bangladeshi generic drug manufacturer that has already started production of Remdesivir.

COVID-19 vaccine likely to be effective, claims Chinese firm

This injection is available in the market now. According to the report, this is a course consisting of 11 vaccines, the cost of one vaccine is Rs 20,000 while the total cost of the entire course is Rs 220,000.

In order to get this vaccine a doctor’s prescription is required, as well as a photocopy of the ID card and a stamp paper stating that the company will not be held responsible for any reactions.

According to sources, it is not known whether the injection to be introduced has been approved by the government of Pakistan or not. It is a good news for those who can afford it, however, the poor class won’t afford such an injection.
