Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit in a statement has said that a ceasefire was the first step towards resolving the Yemen crisis.
According to reports, Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit in a meeting with the Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud on Thursday, praised Saudi Arabia for its position in the Yemen matter. He said that the Yemeni Houthi rebel organization Tehreek-e-Ansarullah, is working on external agenda.
The Arab League Secretary-General urged Yemen to prioritize interests instead of acting as a tool for others.
According to earlier reports, Saudi Arabia has called for a ceasefire in Yemen two months ago saying that if Yemen wanted peace an initiative to establish ceasefire must be taken in different parts of the country.
Moreover, unilateral aggression against Yemen and the failure to meet goals has led to the defeat of Al Saud and the government which has forced the need for peace talks with Yemen. According to reports, the people in Yemen say that because the Saudi government could not achieve its goals through war, they are trying to hold peace-talks.
