  • In light of security concerns, the Punjab government imposed Section 144 in Lahore for 6 days.

Baaghi TV: According to the notification issued by the Punjab Home Department, all kinds of political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies, demonstrations and protests have been banned in the provincial capital, Lahore, under Section 144.

This ban will be applicable from Thursday, October 3 to Tuesday, October 8, while the Punjab Home Department has also issued a notification for the implementation of Section 144.

It has been said in the notification that Section 144 has been implemented to maintain law and order in the city, protect human lives and property. In view of security threats, public gatherings can be a soft target for terrorists. The decision to implement Section 144 has been made on the recommendation of the district administration. Widespread publicity of the implementation of Section 144 was directed for public awareness.

It should be noted that, in light of the threat of terrorism, the Punjab government had implemented Section 144 in 6 districts of the province in the past, and a notification was also issued by the Punjab Home Department. Section 144 will be implemented in Mianwali, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot. Section 144 was implemented in Mianwali from 1st to 7th October, while in other 5 districts, Section 144 was implemented for 2 days.
