Senior Bollywood actress dies due to COVID-19

Mumbai, 24th September: Ashalata Wabgaonkar, a senior actress from the Indian film industry, has died at the age of 79, four days after contracting the coronavirus.

According to Indian media reports, the 79-year-old actress Ashalata had fallen ill during the shooting of a Marathi film a few days ago. More than 20 staff members were tested for corona who tested positive.

Actress Ashalata Wabgaonkar’s famous role was that of a stepmother to Amitabh Bachchan in the popular Bollywood film ‘Zanjeer’.

It is said that her health continued to deteriorate in the hospital after being diagnosed with the coronavirus and died four days after contracting the disease. 

Actress Renuka Shahane lamented the death of the senior actress and said that today is a sad day for all of us as corona has ended another beautiful life. Ashalata was a woman who loved others.

Actor Anil Kapoor wrote in his tribute to Ashalata that I had the opportunity to work with her in the film ‘Woh Saat Din’ which is an honour for me.

It should be noted that 79-year-old Ashalata Wabgaonkar had shown her acting skills in several famous Bollywood films, including Ahista Ahista, Woh Saat Din, Namak Halal, Zanjeer, Kulli, and many others.
