- Pakistan’s CAA has suspended Serene Air’s operating certificates after the airline was left with no serviceable aircraft.
- The suspension halts all domestic operations until the airline restores its fleet.
- In contrast, PIA has secured UK clearance and will resume flights to Manchester first, with Birmingham and London to follow.
ISLAMABAD – October 4, 2025: The Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan (CAA) has suspended the air operator certificates of private airline Serene Air (Pvt) Limited with immediate effect, citing the carrier’s failure to maintain the regulatory minimum fleet size and the absence of any airworthy aircraft.

In an order issued on Thursday, October 2, 2025, the CAA stated that Serene Air was unable to sustain safe air operations due to its lack of serviceable aircraft. As a result, both of the airline’s Air Operator Certificates (Nos. AOC-031/16-AL and AOC-032/17-CH) have been suspended under PCAA rules.
“Serene Air has failed to comply with the regulatory requirement of maintaining the prescribed minimum fleet size and presently has zero serviceable aircraft available for operations,” the Authority said in its official announcement.
The suspension took effect immediately, grounding all domestic flight operations. The CAA has directed the airline to surrender its suspended certificates for endorsement and notified its flight operations director along with other relevant authorities.
The regulator also clarified that Serene Air’s case for reinstatement will only be considered once the airline brings aircraft back into service.

PIA Secures UK Permit
In a separate development, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to resume flights to the United Kingdom this month after receiving a key operating permit.
The Pakistan High Commission in London announced on Friday that the UK Civil Aviation Authority had granted PIA a Foreign Aircraft Operating Permit (FOP), the final approval required to restore flight services.
