Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister (FM), said that they have been working with Pakistani representatives in Afghanistan to ensure a stable government and to counter-terrorism.
Speaking at a press conference in New York, Russian FM, Sergei Lavrov, said he was in contact with the United States, China and Pakistan over the situation in Afghanistan, and that the four countries were working to fulfill the promises made by the Taliban.
He said that work was being done to ensure real representative government in Afghanistan and prevention of terrorism. The representatives of Russia, China and Pakistan met with Taliban representatives in Qatar, while the representatives of three other countries met with Hamid Karzai and Abdullah Abdullah in Kabul.

Sergei Lavrov also said that the Taliban-announced interim government was not representing the whole of Afghanistan, and that ethnic, religious and political representatives in Afghanistan were working to form a government. He added that it was important for us that the promises made by the Taliban are wholly fulfilled.
He said: “US and NATO forces were hastily withdrawn from Afghanistan regardless of the consequences, adding that the remaining weapons of foreign forces in Afghanistan were in danger of being used for malicious purposes.”

It should also be noted that the issue of Afghanistan has been brought up in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) by the Prime Minister of Pakistan and many others. The official Taliban spokesperson has also addressed the UNGA Conference.
