Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, during his ongoing engagements at the United Nations in New York, telephoned Sheila Jackson Lee, Member of the US Congress and Chairperson Pakistan Cox.

They Discussed issues of mutual interest, including Pak-US relations and the situation in the region.

The Foreign Minister clarified that Pakistan gives special importance to bilateral partnership with the United States.

The US Congress, as an important pillar of the US political system, is of paramount importance, said Secretary of State.

The Foreign Minister lauded the dynamic and positive role of the Congress Cox in strengthening Pak-US relations.

This pro-Pakistan group can be instrumental in improving bilateral relations between the two countries in the US Congress stated Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

Foreign Minister briefed Sheila Jackson Lee on the steps taken by the Government of Pakistan for socio-economic development and betterment of the people.

The Secretary of State also briefed the US Member of Congress on Pakistan’s reconciliation efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region.

The Secretary of State called for the promotion of parliamentary and public relations in the United States and Pakistan.

Sheila Jackson appreciated the role of the American Pakistani community in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

Pakistan and US are hopeful in promoting mutually beneficial relations stated Sheila Jackson.
