Shanghai Cooperation Organization | Pakistan the center of Int’l Attention as Summit Starts

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is the center of international attention for hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Islamabad today. Prime Ministers from eight countries will be participating in the summit.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will represent the host-country Pakistan. Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang, Belarus’ Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda and Uzbekistan Prime Minister Abdulla Nigmatovich Aripov will be participating in the SCO Summit.

Kyrgyzstan’s Cabinet Chairman Akylbek Japarov, Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Arif and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will also participate in the SCO meeting. Mongolia is participating in the SCO Summit as an observer, represented by the Prime Minister of Mongolia. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet Rashid Meredov is representing Turkmenistan as a special guest.

Other guests of the SCO meeting include SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming, Director Executive Committee SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure Ruslan Mirzaev, Chairman Board of SCO Business Council Atif Ikram Shaikh and Council of SCO Interbank Union Chairman Marat Yelibayev is included. Foreign leaders arriving in Islamabad to participate in the SCO meeting will continue today, after which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will host a dinner in honor of the guests.

In the SCO meeting, ongoing cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, environment and socio-cultural relations will be discussed and the performance of the organization will also be reviewed. The member countries of the organization will make important organizational decisions to further enhance mutual cooperation and approve the budget for the organization.

By organizing this conference, Pakistan will get an opportunity to further improve cultural, commercial, historical and security relations with its allied states. Pakistan will get an opportunity to increase cooperation with the member countries participating in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in various fields of regional stability.

This will create a trend of promotion of commercial business and increase in international investment in Pakistan, which will pave new ways for the improvement and prosperity of the country. The countries participating in the SCO meeting will not only increase their confidence in Pakistan, but the cooperation in trade and other fields will also be effectively promoted. Organizing the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in these circumstances is a manifestation of the political and diplomatic seriousness of the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
