Shehbaz Sharif vows to quit from politics if he was charged embezzling earthquake funds on Thursday in a pres conference at Lahore.
According to Baaghitv, President of PML-N and opposition leader in National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif has rejected Daily Mail’s claim of embezzling earthquake funds, which were provided for rehabilitation of earth-quake victims.
He was flanked by senior leaders of PML-N, which included, Ahsan iqbal, Maryam Aurangzeb, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq . He said he was living in exile in United Kingdom when the earth-quake wreaked havoc in 2005. He remarked, “This is such a disgusting allegation that I stole money from an earthquake fund and gave it to my children’.’
In a reference to NAB, he asked if he was guilty of embezzling earth-quake funds, why was he arrested in Ashiana scam or Ramzan Sugar Mils case.
Shehbaz Sharif said ERRA is a federal institution and Chairman Naveed Ikram was removed from the post in 2011 on charges of corruption, his party was not ruling the federal government at that time. He repeated the old narrative of blaming everything on rival political party, PTI, and said “Prime Minister Imran Khan has defamed him but why did he defame the country in the process of doing so.”
Reacting to arrest of former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, by the NAB, he termed it “worst revenge against PML-N in the garb of accountability”.
He said Abbasi was arrested in a crude manner which was a sheer disrespect of such stature, as a former Prime Minister of country, he has to be given due respect. He was arrested without an authentic copy of arrest warrant and NAB DG only showed him whats-app message and unattested copy of the warrant issued by NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal.
