Shehbaz Sharif to meet PML-Q leadership at their residence after 14 years

After Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan, Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif will meet the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q), a key ally of the government, on Sunday (tomorrow).

According to the details, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) members had previously contacted PML-Q to schedule Shehbaz Sharif’s meeting with the party leadership: Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

However, now this meeting has been arranged and leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly will visit Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s residence in Lahore tomorrow. It is to be noted that PML-N president will meet the PML-Q leadership at their residence after 14 years.

He will visit Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s residence to inquire about his well-being. Moreover, the political situation is also likely to be discussed in the meeting of the PML-N president with the Chaudhry brothers.

Sources privy to the matter said that current political developments and the opposition’s planned move to bring a no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan in Parliament will likely come under discussion.

Shehbaz Sharif will ask for the Chaudhry brothers’ support for the no-confidence move, sources added.

Earlier today, President Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), a coalition of opposition parties, Maulana Fazlur Rehman called on former Prime Minister and PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. The PDM President reached Shujaat Hussain’s residence where he was received by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

It may be recalled that just yesterday, the PDM had announced to launch a no-confidence motion against the government and to contact the coalition parties. It is pertinent to mention here that Shehbaz has reportedly made contact with estranged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen and talks between the two leaders have been going on for several days.

On February 7, 2022, former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari had met with the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) leadership in Lahore. Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Pervaiz Elahi, Moonis Elahi, and federal minister Tariq Bashir Cheema were present in the meeting.
