Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah appointed as new Emir of Kuwait

Lahore 30t September: Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the successor of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, has been appointed as the new Emir of Kuwait.

Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has taken the oath of office. The new Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, has held key positions. 

Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah was born on June 25, 1937, in Kuwait City and is the sixth son of the tenth ruler of Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, who ruled Kuwait from 1921 to 1950.

The Emir of Kuwait appointed Sheikh Nawaf as Crown Prince on February 7, 2006. On February 20, 2006, the Kuwaiti parliament swore allegiance to Sheikh Nawaf as Crown Prince.

Emir of Kuwait passes away at 91

According to the news agency, Article 4 of the Kuwaiti Constitution and Article 1 of the Law on Power in the State, Kuwait is a hereditary state. The power will remain in the descendants of Mubarak al-Sabah.

Article 4 of the Law of Power in Kuwait states that “whenever the position of the Emir of Kuwait becomes vacant, the Crown Prince will become the Emir of Kuwait”. Article 60 of the Constitution states that the Emir of Kuwait must exercise his powers in a special session of the Kuwaiti Parliament.

Sheikh Nawaf has been the Crown Prince of Kuwait for 14 years. He has held many government positions over the last 60 years. He has also been the Minister of Defense and Minister of the Interior. He became Minister of Labor and Social Affairs on April 20, 1991, in the first government since the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.
