Shibli Faraz and Christian Turner agree on Bolstering Cooperation in Diverse Fields

ISLAMABAD, July 05 (Online Int’l): British High Commissioner His Excellency Dr Christian Turner has called on Information Minister Senator Shibli Faraz and exchanged views at length on bilateral relations and the corona virus situation. The two have agreed on bolstering cooperation in ongoing projects and diverse fields.

Information  Minister Shibli Faraz said that Pakistan holds in high esteem its relations with the UK and both countries have commonalities of views on diverse regional and international issues. “I express my heartiest condolence over the fatalities caused by the corona virus in the UK”, he added. “We express our solidarity with the people and the British government in this trying time. We laud the endeavours by the British government in combating the corona virus pandemic valiantly and with determination. Corona is a global virus and we will have to make joint efforts to defeat it. We are pursuing a balanced strategy in Pakistan already from the first day to save people from this virus and also from financial hardships”, he added.

He further stated that the smart lockdown in the country is proving productive. Corona has adversely impacted the world’s economies. Prime Minister Imran Khan embarked upon special efforts to seek relief for developing countries in loans. It is matter of pleasure that G20 countries are playing a key role in extending relief in the loans, he added. He observed that the NCOC is playing the role of a centre for coordinating national endeavours against the corona virus.

The British High Commissioner appreciated the steps taken by Pakistan to counter the corona virus epidemic saying that the UK will continue its full-fledged support to Pakistan on its moves to contain COVID19.
