Lahore, 3rd June: Federal Information Minister Shibli Faraz has appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan to intervene and arrange a meeting with the officials of Pakistan Broadcasting Association (PBA).

According to reports, the meeting should be held to resolve the issues regarding PBA with respect to FM Radio license renewals by reducing or exempting license fee renewal, granting the license for another 10 years on current terms and facilitate the radio industry which employs an estimate of around 10000 jobs.

The radio industry reaches the far-flung areas to provide entertainment, news, and public information for the benefit of those who have no other access to it.

It is a difficult time for economy especially in the context of COVID19 and its effects.

Radio is a struggling industry and needs support and assistance from the Government.

It is being told that the new renewal fee structure is not in line with the probably astronomical and needs an urgent review in consultation with stakeholders, i.e. the PBA.

Your personal interest is essential to save the radio industry from closure thus resulting in job losses and unemployment.
