Shoaib Malik Retires from ODI, Wife Commemorates his Achievements
Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza took to Twitter to announce the cricketers' retirement from ODI
London 7th July: With a career in cricket spanning well over 20 years, Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik finally announced his retirement from ODI cricket in an emotional post.
According to Baaghi TV’s reports, Pakistani cricket player, Shoaib Malik tweeted a “huge” thank you to the “players he has played with” and the “coaches he has trained under” the day he announced his retirement from ODI cricket. He continued to thanks his family and friends as well as the “sponsor[s] and most importantly his fans”.

It has been confirmed that as soon as Shoaib Malik made the decision, his wife Sania Mirza also took to the social-networking platform to congratulate her husband on an astounding career.

“Every story has an end, but in life, every ending is a new beginning” Mirza tweeted. She continued to show her support for her husband as she applauded him for serving his country for nearly 20 years in the field of cricket stating, that Malik continues to do so with “honour and humility”.

The 37-year-old cricketer will still continue to play the Twenty20 format, but he had to admit that it was an emotional moment to call time on his ODI career.
He is retiring from one-day cricket, he said, who has been dropped after a very disappointing World Cup with him getting two ducks in three matches.
He felt sad for leaving the format he loved the most, however this will allow him to spend more time with his family and concentrate on the Twenty20 World Cup next year.
