Sialkot police arrests accused for harassing girls
Lahore: On the direction of Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan, measures are being taken to prevent all kinds of violence, harassment, rape and other abuses against women on priority basis in all districts across the province.
In this regard, by taking an immediate action , Sialkot police arrested an accused for harassing women at public places. According to details, IG Punjab had taken notice of the incident after videos of harassment of women surfaced on social media, upon which Punjab Police Social Media Cell assigned a task to DPO Sialkot for his arrest.
According to Punjab Police spokesperson, Sialkot police reached the accused through CCTV footages and arrested him. The accused used to harass women at public places on daily basis and videos of which went viral on social media. Punjab Police spokesperson said that women are requested to report such untoward incidents to 15 immediately. Strict legal action will be ensured against the accused without delay. Spokesperson for Punjab Police said that IG Punjab is following a zero tolerance policy on incidents of violence and harassment against women and children. He said that Punjab Police have developed Women Safety App to prevent incidents of violence and harassment against women and Anti-Women Harassment Cells are also working in all districts of Punjab with the aim of ensuring protection of women and every possible relief to them.
