A soldier was martyred and a terrorist was killed in an exchange of fire between the Pakistani army and terrorists in South Waziristan.
According to the Pakistan Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorist activity was reported in the Kanigram area of South Waziristan. An operation was carried out by the Pakistan Army to eliminate the threat during which there was an exchange of fire with the militants.
In the bullet exchange, one terrorist was killed and 42-year-old Deputy Subedar Sanezai was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries.
A search operation has been launched to eliminate terrorists from the area.
“The Pakistan Army is committed to eradicating the scourge of terrorism from the country and the sacrifices of our valiant soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the released statement said.
The soldier was martyred between the nights of August 11 and 12.
It is to be noted that a week earlier, 37-year-old Naik Ghulam Mustafa was also martyred in an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Gharium area of North Waziristan. Furthermore, earlier in late July, another two soldiers were killed and nine others were injured in terrorist attacks on security forces in the South and North Waziristan tribal areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
