MULTAN – October 9, 2025: A hundred hearing-impaired children have successfully received and activated cochlear implants at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Multan, marking a significant breakthrough in restoring hearing and transforming young lives across South Punjab.
The Cochlear Implant Activation Center Multan, established in August 2023, has emerged as a new ray of hope for children born with hearing loss. This milestone follows the success of Pakistan’s first cochlear implant center at CMH Rawalpindi, inaugurated in May 2017.

According to CMH officials, the program has achieved 100 successful pediatric implant activations since September 2023, made possible through the support of the Pakistan Army and Al Noor Special Children’s School, which jointly cover the high costs of treatment and rehabilitation. The facility is equipped with modern medical technology, trained surgeons, and specialized therapists who provide post-surgery speech and hearing therapy.
Speaking at the ceremony, Corps Commander Multan praised the initiative as a “positive revolution” in the lives of special children and reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to expanding similar welfare programs. He said that despite the high cost of implants, the project reflects “the true spirit of humanity, service, and compassion.”

Families of the beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude, calling it “nothing short of a miracle.”
The Multan center continues to receive patients from remote areas of South Punjab, bridging healthcare gaps and ensuring that more children are given the chance to hear, speak, and thrive.
