South Waziristan appoints first female head of Education

Waziristan (15th Sept, 2020): Noor Khadija becomes the first female to become the head of education department in South Waziristan, according to reports of The Current.

According to reports of Pakistani news outlet, The Current, Noor Khadija, is reportedly the first woman to be appointed as the head of the education department in South Waziristan. The area reportedly has one of the lowest literacy rates across the country.

Noor Khadija, who reportedly comes from a family of educators has been associated with the Education department for the last ten years and was appointed as the Deputy District Education Officer for South Waziristan in August.

In conversation with local media, Khadija stated that, “As a woman, Fatima Jinnah proved that women could make a difference and play a decisive role to lead the society for positive change” She added, “I will strive to provide girls schools with all missing facilities, to empower girls through education, which is of paramount importance for a vibrant society”.
