Spectrum mobile to be auctioned across Pakistan in June

Consultant for Spectrum has said that the auction will be a success since there is a lot of potential in Pakistan.

According to reports, a briefing on the Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) Spectrum was given at a meeting of the Finance Division of the Advisory Committee chaired by Shaukat Tareen, Minister for Finance. During the meeting, the committee approved the sale of Spectrum.

The consultant will meet with the stakeholders in the next phase to brief about the auction process, according to reports.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Senator Shibli Faraz, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Communication Syed Aminul Haq, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Trade Abdul Razzaq Dawood, Secretaries of relevant federal agencies, Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication, Executive Director of Frequency Allocation Board (FAB), and other officers attended the meeting.

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Communication Syed Aminul Haq informed the committee that the sale would play an important role in promotion of communication and IT services across Pakistan. Meanwhile, the consultant briefed on the 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bonds. According to reports, the Spectrum Auction 2020-2021 focused on the consistency for investors and expansion of broadband services and showed that it will have a positive effect on Pakistan’s economy.

Expressing confidence, the consultant said that there was significant potential for broadband and telecommunication development across Pakistan and the existing four cellular companies were keen to acquire additional spectrum to take advantage of the growth opportunities. The spectrum auction would be a success. This will have a significant impact on government revenue.
